On this splice is assembled the dead end. In F.O. OPGW cables, the lay direction of the protection splice is the opposite to the outer layer of the cable, the lay direction of the dead end is the same to the outer layer of the cable. In the all dielectric self supporting cables, the lay direction of the protection splice is left hand lay and the lay direction of the dead end is right hand lay. As you can see in the attached tables (SEE PDF document), each dead end has an application diameter range, it is the addition of the diameter of the cable and twice the diameter of the rod (from the protection splice).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>La <strong>denominaci\u00f3n<\/strong> de SAPREM para sus <strong>empalmes de protecci\u00f3n<\/strong> es la siguiente:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Empalme de Protecci\u00f3n=Protection splice with two letters meaning the raw material which they are made from, AL (Aleac. aluminio=aluminium alloy), ACS, with two letters F.O.(Fibre Optic), and the numbers that they show the diameter for which it has been made the protection splice. In the splices the colour code is marked in the centre of the fitting. This denomination is completed with the letter D if the lay direction is right hand lay,or with the letter I if it is left hand lay.<\/p>\n<p><strong>VERY IMPORTANT: The lay direction of the dead end, must be identical to the outer layer of the specified cable, and the lay direction of the protection splice must be the opposite.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-sep-clear\"><\/div><div class=\"fusion-separator fusion-full-width-sep\" style=\"margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;margin-top:10px;margin-bottom:10px;width:100%;\"><\/div><div class=\"fusion-sep-clear\"><\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-4 sep-underline sep-solid fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-three\" style=\"--awb-margin-top-small:10px;--awb-margin-right-small:0px;--awb-margin-bottom-small:10px;--awb-margin-left-small:0px;--awb-sep-color:#ffcc00;\"><h3 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left\" style=\"margin:0;\">Finish and Appearance<\/h3><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-5\"><p>The rods of the dead end sets must be refaced in the ends to avoid damages in th application and to the specified cable.
